1st East Hagbourne Brownies & Guides Pack Leaders - Meet the Team

Brown Owl (Penny Gilbert)

Hello All!

I'm Penny and I am Brown Owl for Brownies and assistant Guider for Guides for our 1st East Hagbourne units!

I am passionate about Guiding and love being a leader for my local community. Guiding has been such a huge part of my life - from being a Brownie, a Guide, a Ranger and Young Leader to being a fully qualified Brownie Guider, Pack Holiday Licence holder, First Response qualified and soon to be Guide Guider. I'm just crazy about it!!!!

The most rewarding part of my role is nurturing the girls' life skills and watching them grow through the experiences they gain in Guiding.

Outside of Guiding, my hobbies and interests include music, swimming, cooking and spending time with my family.

Raven (Gill Lidgett)

Hello Folks – I’m Gill Lidgett and I’ve been a voluntary helper with 1st East Hagbourne Brownies since inception in 2006.

I am a qualified Nursery Nurse holding a Diploma in Child Care and Education, although I no longer work in that capacity.

In my younger days, I was both a Brownie and a Guide and encouraged my daughter to follow suit when she was old enough. This obviously paid off because not only did she excel as a Brownie and a Guide but has carried on and is now Brown Owl here - making me a very proud Mother owl.

My hobbies are allotment gardening and my two beautiful grand-daughters (who I hope will follow the family tradition in Guiding). I also enjoy art and craft activities.

Pack Leader (Bex)

Hi, I'm Bex

Tawny Owl (Rachel Williams)

Hi, I am Rachel Williams. I am Tawny Owl for the Brownies and Guider in Charge for the Guides.

I have been a leader for 13 years and have been with the 1st East Hagbourne Brownies for 3 years. I originally started Guiding in Kent where I grew up. I loved being a Brownie, Guide and Young leader which is why I wanted to become a leader.

My hobbies are bellringing, playing the clarinet and walking and I love Guiding because of the variety of activities we do, for example: craft, visiting places, campfires, singing and camping.

The badge I have enjoyed doing the most with the Brownies so far has been 'Discovering Faith' and I am looking forward to an even wider variety of activities with the new Guide Unit.
